Bothell Municipal Court Docket Access

Bothell Municipal Court handles cases within Bothell city limits. The court processes traffic infractions, misdemeanor criminal matters, and gross misdemeanor charges. Felony cases do not go through this court. Those are sent to either King County Superior Court or Snohomish County Superior Court, depending on where the offense happened within the city. Bothell straddles both counties, so jurisdiction can vary by location.

The court is dedicated to fair and transparent access to justice. It also supports therapeutic court programs, probation-related courses, jail-alternative options, community restoration services, and youth outreach programs. Staff includes judges, judicial specialists, probation officers, and administrative personnel.

The Bothell Municipal Court homepage lists current news, hearing calendars, and contact details. Check there first before calling.

How to Request Bothell Court Records

Bothell Municipal Court records are not subject to the Public Records Act. That means you cannot get them through the city's GovQA portal. Instead, you must go directly to the court. Requests must be submitted through the court-specific records portal or in person at the clerk's window.

The Bothell court records request page outlines the process in detail. There are two categories of records. Court case records relate to proceedings and specific cases. Administrative records relate to how the court is managed and run. Both types require a separate request path, but both are governed by Washington State Court Rules General Rule 31 and General Rule 31.1.

If you submit a request for court records to the city's general records office or through GovQA, staff will redirect you to the court. Save time by going to the right place from the start. Use the court-specific portal or visit in person to file your request.

General City Records vs. Court Docket Records

Bothell has two separate records systems. General city records go through the Bothell Public Records Portal (GovQA). That portal covers city administration, permits, city council documents, and similar non-court materials. Court case records and court administrative records are completely separate.

The GovQA portal for the city does list categories including Municipal Court, Municipal Court District Courts, and Washington State Links. But those links point you to the court, not to actual records. Do not expect to download case filings or docket sheets through GovQA. You need the court portal for that.

Note: Bothell uses the Seattle Municipal Court Portal as the online submission path for court records requests. The Bothell Municipal Court can confirm the correct link when you contact them.

Searching Bothell Cases Through State Tools

You can also search Bothell Municipal Court cases using the Washington Courts DW Case Search. This statewide tool is free and covers courts of limited jurisdiction across Washington. Cases are updated daily. You can look up by defendant name, date of birth, or case number. Results show case summaries and docket listings but do not provide document images.

For Bothell cases that involve King County Superior Court filings, the King County Script Portal is the right tool. Snohomish County Superior Court cases can be searched through the Odyssey Portal. Both systems require you to know which court filed the case. Bothell's split-county geography means that cases can end up in either system depending on the offense location.

The Washington Courts portal at courts.wa.gov also has resources on court rules, case search tools, and contact information for courts statewide.

Bothell Court Programs and Additional Services

Bothell Municipal Court offers more than just standard case processing. The court runs therapeutic court programming designed to address underlying issues related to criminal behavior. Probation-related educational courses are available as well. There are also jail-alternative options and community restoration services for eligible defendants.

Youth outreach initiatives are part of the court's community mission. These programs reflect a broader approach to justice that goes beyond simply processing cases. If you have a pending case in Bothell and want to know what programs might apply, contact the court directly at the number listed on their website.

The court also handles infraction hearings separately from criminal matters. Traffic and parking infractions are lower-level matters with their own process. If you received a citation and want to contest it, check the Municipal Court page for the correct hearing request form.

For cases involving Snohomish County jurisdiction, Snohomish County Superior Court is located at 3000 Rockefeller Ave., M/S 502, Everett, WA 98201. Records access for that court is handled through the Snohomish County Clerk's Office.
