Washington Counties Court Docket Records

Washington has 39 counties, and each one has a Superior Court that maintains its own court docket records. A court docket is the official running log of every action taken in a case. It records the date each document was filed, what type of filing it was, what hearings were scheduled, and what orders the judge entered. Superior Court dockets cover civil cases, criminal cases, family law matters, probate, and juvenile proceedings. District Court and Municipal Court dockets cover misdemeanors, traffic violations, small claims, and city ordinance cases.

To find a court docket in Washington, you usually start with one of two statewide tools. The Odyssey Portal covers most Superior Courts. The DW Case Search routes you to the right system depending on which county and court type you are searching. A few counties use their own dedicated portals. King County Superior Court uses a separate portal. Pierce County uses the LINX system. Some limited jurisdiction courts are on the re:Search WA platform.

When online systems do not have what you need, the county clerk is your next contact. The County Clerk serves as the official custodian of record for Superior Court cases. They can pull a case by name or case number, confirm docket details, and provide copies of filed documents. Plain copies cost less than certified ones. Each county sets its own fee schedule within state guidelines. Contact the specific county clerk before visiting or mailing a request to confirm current fees and procedures.

Access to court dockets in Washington is governed by General Rule 31 (GR 31). This rule, set by the Washington Supreme Court, defines what court records are public and what is restricted. Most dockets and filings are open to anyone. Sealed cases, juvenile dependency records, adoption files, and mental competency proceedings are restricted. Clerks do not review filed documents for personal identifier compliance; that responsibility falls on the filing party.
