Washington City Court Docket Records
Washington cities do not have their own Superior Courts. When a civil, criminal, or family law case is filed by or against someone in a Washington city, it goes to the Superior Court of the county where that city is located. The county clerk is the official custodian of those court docket records. That means finding a court docket for someone in Bellevue means going to King County Superior Court. A case from Tacoma goes to Pierce County Superior Court. Knowing the county is the first step.
Most Washington cities also have their own Municipal Courts that handle low-level criminal cases, traffic violations, and city ordinance matters. These local courts keep their own dockets separate from the Superior Court system. For a Municipal Court case in Seattle, you would search the Seattle Municipal Court records portal. For Spokane Municipal Court cases, there is a separate city portal. The statewide DW Case Search tool can point you to the right portal based on the court type and location.
For Superior Court dockets covering major case types, the Odyssey Portal is the main free statewide search tool. You can search by party name or case number and see docket entries for most counties. King County uses its own portal for Superior Court cases. Pierce County uses the LINX system. Both of these are accessible through the DW Case Search routing tool. For older records not available online, contacting the county clerk directly or searching the Washington State Digital Archives may be the best path.
